🔒 I LONG FOR MORE SECURITY

Our vision

Being able to feel safe in your own home, street and village is a basic right. It is important for personal development but also to prevent loneliness.

Our three priorities

  • More resources for and awareness of local police officers. They should be the first point of contact when citizens have minor frustrations like overhanging branches or badly parked cars. But also for burglary prevention and a general sense of security. It is high time to make sure the police have enough staff. As an alternative to some of the duties of local police officers, community wardens could be considered.
  • Instal cameras where needed. We do not want a Big Brother society, but cameras can help with specific problems. Specifically, we are thinking of using cameras against bicycle theft and illegal dumping. We could also use them with decoy bicycles to detect bicycle theft. They could also be used for speed enforcement in residential areas.
  • The new police station is being built at AZ Keiberg. Once all the police from the entire area move to this site, the police station in Tervuren centre will become vacant. We will work with the public to find a new use for it. And we want some presence of the police in the centre of Tervuren. This could take the form of half a day a week in the town hall.
