Our vision
The municipality signed the mayor's covenant so is committed to cutting CO2 emissions by 40% by 2030, and to be completely climate neutral by 2050. In addition to preventing climate warming, the plan also provides for measures to protect us from its effects. These general objectives were specified in the Local Energy and Climate Plan 2.0. Groen+Vooruit are fully committed to a climate policy that includes everyone.
The three priorities
- Climate-neutral public buildings. The municipality is drawing up a long-term plan for its own buildings so that they can all be climate-neutral by 2050. Studies have already started for the following municipal buildings: GBS Moorsel, GBS Vossem, WEB, Diependal/Nettenberg, WZC,...
- As part of the master plan for the Ravenstein neighbourhood, there is a plan to build a large water park. This park can collect, buffer and filter all the rain that falls in the Ravenstein district. At the same time, these ponds can serve as a water source for the golf club, provided they co-finance the construction. This new park will add value to the spacious neighbourhood as a place to relax. The plan also includes the construction of a heating network that every home can connect to.
- Insulating and making existing buildings and homes energy efficient e.g. via ESCOs. We are expanding the team of renovation supervisors to three full-time equivalents for Tervuren (preferably via the Climate Alliance) to give people more support in making their homes energy-neutral, and developing a heating plan so that in time all homes can be heated without oil or natural gas.
