Our vision
The world population continues to increase. This is also the case in Flanders and Tervuren. Population growth combined with ever-smaller families means that there is a continuing demand for additional housing. But we cannot continue to carve up open spaces. That is why we have to build only where there are already houses, and preferably near facilities such as public transport, shops, etc. At the same time, we must ensure that Tervuren does not become a city but remains the friendly town it is today.
Our three priorities
- Together with the housing company Woontrots, we are implementing the master plan for the Ravenstein neighbourhood. This plan includes new social housing to meet the housing shortage. Greener and safer streets to future-proof the neighbourhood's public areas. A new intersection with Tervurenlaan, for which the Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer must give its approval, should serve as a new entrance to the neighbourhood so that the new houses do not cause additional traffic pressure on the already saturated Brusselsesteenweg. There will be a large water park to collect rainwater and solve the water problems in H. Boulengerlaan and its surroundings. At the same time, an agreement will be sought with Golf Ravenstein so that they use this water to irrigate their golf course. In exchange, they will co-finance the water park.
- We are developing a new plan for the centre of Moorsel. We feel that, in addition to a new nursery and primary school, there should be a childcare centre, a supermarket, a park and enough playing space. To avoid too much building, scenarios involving the Steenberg, the parochiezaal and the church should also be examined.
- The Oude Jongens School in Duisburg is in disrepair. Only the gemeentezaal in the back is still used. We want to build a new hall alongside Pachthof Stroykens. The Old Boys' School is diagonally opposite St Anne's School and a stone's throw from the car parks on the church square. An ideal location to organise childcare. On the site of the Oude Jongens School, there could also be a housing project to finance the childcare centre and the hall. It would be nice to keep the old town hall, or part of it, in the new project, but it is not a requirement for us.
